The original tank was replaced with a Rock Valley stainless steel tank which has a internal fuel pump that provides better performance and durability that will be needed for the 345 HP HEMI during hard excelleration. Greg had already replaced two external pumps in the past four years and this in tank pump will have a longer life because the fuel keeps the pump cool. In tank pumps only push the fuel.
After setting the engine and transmission in place, the S&P harness was laid out to be installed.

 Rock Valley made this tank to fit back into the factory location and it also comes with stainless steel mounting straps.
For the fuel filter, we used a S&P S.S fuel filter kit that uses a ‘99 up Vette filter which has the regulator built into the filter. This filter also has a single line to the engine and a return line to the tank.

Attach the fuel line using a aero-quip braided fuel hose from the frame to engine. A compression AN6 90 degree fitting is used to make the connection to the HEMI’s fuel rail. The 5.7 HEMI uses a single fuel line system with the regulator built into the fuel tank. The Vette filter/regulator provided by S&P allows for not having a regulator in the tank. Be sure to pressurize the system and check for leaks before driving.

The driver side kick panel is were we mounted the five speed automatic computer with the engine computer above it. 2003 models used a engine and transmission management computer, where 2004 and later models use only one computer to control both the engine and transmission. Photo to right shows mounting the OBDII diagnostic link under the dash. The diagnostic link is used to attach a scanner  to scan the engine and transmission for troubleshooting and accurate operation.

The crank sensor on the 5.7 HEMI is located at the rear of the passenger side block just above the oil pan.

Driver side knock sensor is located in the block , behind the engine mount.

The air temp sensor is located in the front air box. The S&P HEMI harness comes labeled and cut to length.
The drive by wire throttle activator box is mounted low on the passenger side fire wall. We used a Lokar throttle cable from the pedal to the box.

The brake light and torque converter lock up switch (part# 1242F1) is mounted in front of the brake pedal so that when the pedal is pressed the torque converter will come out of lock up and will disingage the cruise control. This switch can only be set once so you will have to buy a new one. You can’t use a salvaged switch. This switch is not used with manual transmissions.
