MOPAR 5.7 HEMI Powered
55 FORD F100
The HEMI setting in the 55 Ford Pick-up. In the background to the right is the New LT-1 that was removed for this installation. Once Tony studied up on the HEMI he decided that he wanted one of these in his truck to stand out from the rest.
This truck was already set-up with a Mustang front end and motor mount stands for the Chevy. The HEMI fell right into place with the adaptor plates designed by S.A.F Engineering of Mena, AR. These Plates are to be produced by Street & Performance
With the front cowl removed from the truck, there is plenty of room to work.
Tony had to slightly modify the transmission cross member that he had for the LT-1 and used the same mount. The big Mopar 5 speed automatic cleared the tunnel with out any problems.
Shown here is the 700R4 Cross member with slight modification bolted right to the Mopar 5 speed automatic Transmission.
Now with the inner fenders back in place you can really begin to see that this engine belongs in this truck, Fire wall clearance is good and the stock intake fits right into the fire wall. One would think that the Ford had seen this install coming when they designed the fire wall in this truck. The steering is close to the back of the driver side head but the headers will be built to accommodate this problem.
Passenger side has plenty of room left for the headers which we will be showing you when we have them built. Tony's headers will be coated because he wants to leave the engine unpolished and the coating color will blend with the valve covers. The newly designed S&P Headers will let the HEMI breath much better than the stock manifolds.
Top view of the HEMI with the inner fenders in place. The Stock Radiator allows for ample room for electric fans. Tony has decided to use the Factory configuration for his accessories which will be placed above the water pump.
This engine looks like it belongs in this engine bay. It is a beautiful fit. Next we will be making the headers, adding the accessories, and wiring harness, then it's off to the interior shop
The Harness is complete and ready for installation.
All of the accessories have been added and the Street & Performance coated headers are in place.
Tony had a lot of room on the drivers side, but...
The drivers side is another story. As you can see, Tony and Walt had to custom fab the steering linkage to steer the mustang rack.
To cool the engine, Tony wanted to use the trucks factory radiator. He had a new fan shroud made to mount his electric fan, and fit it to his stock radiator.
For the interior Tony sent the truck to Chuck's Auto Reupholstery in Tulsa, OK. Reupholstery does not even begin to discribe the interior of this truck, this is a beautiful custom interior. Tony wanted a interior that was modern but still stayed with the 55 vintage. Tony got what he wanted, and is very happy with the results and the quality of work that Chuck has done.
